He is currently Technical Manager in the Energy Efficiency and Sustainability unit of Euro-Funding, in which he carries out, among other services, the management of public aid for energy saving and efficiency, aid for environmental actions, waste reduction and circular economy, technical consultancy services (Product Carbon Footprint, Environmental Product Declaration, Ecodesign, Ecolabelling, Water Footprint).
The pandemic has disrupted all sectors of the Spanish economy and society. In the case of the agricultural sector, farmers and ranchers are doing their best to continue producing the food needed to supply the countries of the European Union. In fact, they have proven to be an essential and fundamental sector for society.
Although during the most critical months of the pandemic the agricultural sector has been the only one to maintain stable growth, it has also shown the need to transform the sector, since the companies that make it up must also comply with the energy efficiency guidelines set by the European Council.
The Official Association of Agricultural Engineers of the Region of Murcia admits that agriculture generates between 10 and 12% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and that this figure will increase over time due to growing demand and changes in diet. To tackle the problem, the national government and regional municipalities are promoting the transformation of facilities and the use of machinery and renewable energies to reduce GHG emissions from agricultural companies.
Achieving real food security and promoting sustainable agriculture and livestock farming are two of the milestones that mark the progress of the agricultural sector. Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Castilla La-Mancha, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Galicia, La Rioja, Murcia, Navarra and the Valencian Community are the Spanish regions that have the “Energy efficiency in farms” call open until December 31, 2023.

In both actions, the maximum amount of the aid will be 30% of the eligible cost. The beneficiary may be natural or legal persons, irrigation communities and other organizations related to the sector and the type of aid to be requested, irrigated agricultural holdings, any organization or association of agricultural products recognized by the competent authority, renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities and energy service companies (ESCOs).
